Microsoft introduced an operating environment named Windows on November 20, 1985, as a graphical operating system shell for MS-DOS in response to the growing interest in graphical user interfaces (GUIs).[4] Microsoft Windows came to dominate the world's personal computer (PC) market with over 90% market share, overtaking Mac OS, which had been introduced in 1984.

The history of the Playstation begins in 1988 when Sony and Nintendo were working together to develop the Super Disc. The Super Disc was going to be a CD-ROM attachment that was intended to be part of Nintendo's soon to be released Super Nintendo game. However, Sony and Nintendo parted ways business-wise and the Super Disc was never introduced or used by Nintendo. In 1991, Sony used a modified version of the Super Disk as part of their new game console - the Sony Playstation. Research and development for the PlayStation had began in 1990, headed by Sony engineer, Ken Kutaragi. The eventual PlayStation (abbreviated PS, PSone, PS1, or PSX due to its internal code name PlayStation Experimental) is a 32-bit fifth generation video game console released by Sony Computer Entertainment in September 1995.

In the sequel to Quake we're introduced to the war between Earth and the Strogg, an evil alien race hellbent on taking over Earth. To fend off this threat, Earth has launched the Alien Overlord campaign, where humans take the fight to the Strogg's homeworld. While the weaponry has been upgraded and enemies are more life-like than before, the most extensive changes have been made to the level designs. Choices along the way can affect later stages, like flooding passageways or alerting additional security personnel to your presence. The game also features multiplayer via LAN or the internet.
