AbandonwareThe worldwide phenomenon made its second debut on the home computer with MicroProse's approach to the game. Featuring cards from the Alpha, Beta, Unlimited and 4th Edition packs, the game includes a duel vs computer mode and a singleplayer mode called Shandalar. In the latter, players wander the land of Shandalar with the quest to defeat five powerful wizards in order to save the World. This mode is separated into an overview world where you can visit towns, get quests and upgrade your deck, a card duel mode and a dungeon crawling mode when entering certain locations on the world map.
In addition to 400 cards drawn from various Magic card sets, the PC version of Magic: The Gathering included 12 new cards from the Astral Set. Because these featured random effects, they exist only within the game with the exception of Aswan Jaguar. This was made as an oversized 6"x9" card and can be used in oversized decks.
Later versions of the game, aptly named Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers added things like multiplayer via ManaLink - Magic the Gathering's online multiplayer system.
