The history of the Playstation begins in 1988 when Sony and Nintendo were working together to develop the Super Disc. The Super Disc was going to be a CD-ROM attachment that was intended to be part of Nintendo's soon to be released Super Nintendo game. However, Sony and Nintendo parted ways business-wise and the Super Disc was never introduced or used by Nintendo. In 1991, Sony used a modified version of the Super Disk as part of their new game console - the Sony Playstation. Research and development for the PlayStation had began in 1990, headed by Sony engineer, Ken Kutaragi. The eventual PlayStation (abbreviated PS, PSone, PS1, or PSX due to its internal code name PlayStation Experimental) is a 32-bit fifth generation video game console released by Sony Computer Entertainment in September 1995.

Sega Saturn

The Sega Saturn is a 32-bit fifth-generation video game console that was first released by Sega on November 22, 1994 in Japan, May 11, 1995 in North America, and July 8, 1995 in Europe. The system was discontinued in North America and Europe in 1998, and in 2000 in Japan. The Saturn sold 9.5 million units worldwide.[3] While its installed base in the United States ended at 2 million,[5] its installed base in Japan was more than 6 million units.[citation needed] While it was popular in Japan, the Saturn failed to gain a similar market share in North America and Europe against its main competitors: Sony's PlayStation and later the Nintendo 64.

Microsoft introduced an operating environment named Windows on November 20, 1985, as a graphical operating system shell for MS-DOS in response to the growing interest in graphical user interfaces (GUIs).[4] Microsoft Windows came to dominate the world's personal computer (PC) market with over 90% market share, overtaking Mac OS, which had been introduced in 1984.

What platforms they offer them on varies, but most popular consoles and platforms have one or more stores where one can choose to buy them. Depending on the store, some games have Digital Rights Management (DRM), which require user to use and/or have an account to play.

Gex, the anthropomorphic, television-obsessed gecko, has been kidnapped into the TV dimension by Rez who aims to use him as mascot in his quest to take over the World. As Gex finds himself in the so called Media Dimension he must fight and platform his way out of 5 different channels (worlds) each with a set of levels. The goal in each level is to find a remote which unlocks the next level.

The game is a 2D side-scrolling platformer with a total of 24 levels across various TV-themed universes like Jungle World, King Fu World and Horror World. Progress saving is only available through passwords which are obtained after defeating bosses or finding special video tapes in certain levels. Since Gex is a gecko, his platforming skills include the special characteristics like sticking to walls and ceilings and using his tail for attacking. There are various power-ups that allow him to shoot fireballs, run fast or automatically destroy enemies that come close.
