Holy crap, this is great news indeed. In the last weeks I've been trying to capture some decent footage from DosBox, with various results. Others of the scene, after digesting the idea, have also got blood on their teeth after seeing what this opens up for.
Now, ladies and gentlement, our favourite DOS emulator seems to have catched the idea, because the newest version adds just this feature! It's as simple as pushing CTRL+ALT+F5 to record (and stop), and voila you'll have footage of prime quality!
Thanks to Lone Lee for discovering the new version of DosBox, and thanks EVER so much to the crew of this emulator for making this possible. Now we may hopefully avoid the horrible workarounds with FRAPS and DosBox D3D to record our glorious monkey island moments!
Here's the changelog from Dosbox over at Sourceforge:
DOSBox 0.65
Yes it's been a while but we finally decided to release a new version.
Quite a few changes have been made since last version, a few of the more important ones.
This deserves champagne, beer and lots of hours in front of our monitors. Enjoy sceners, and all you other abandonware-lovers!
Greetings from a happy staff.
