PrototypeA very graphic Mortal Kombat clone with a backstory by the creator of the Back to the Future movies, Bob Gale. The game is known for it's bizarre setting and numerous fatality moves, well in the thousands! Tattoo Assassins even feature 'nuditalities', where the opponent removes all clothes from the other player, leaving them to cover up their parts.
The setting revolves around something called "The ink" - an amorphous fluid organism that can warp into real objects when applied as tattoos. When Koldan, the only compatible host for the ink of ghize, steals the secrets for the strange thing his only goal is (of course) to create an army of mutants and enslave all mankind. Naturally that can't happen, so nine other compatible hosts were found and using their magical tattoos will try to put a stop to Koldan's evil plans. Through the channel of Lyla Blue you're able to play as any of them. Talk about convoluted story!
The game was intended to be Data East's direct competitor to the widely popular Mortal Kombat. However, the game was never released and very few working game arcade of the game exists in the world. There's a rich history behind this game and how it ultimately ended up on obscurity.
